Make confident decisions about your school’s data.
How long should your school keep student and staff records? What happens when someone requests access to their information? How do you assess a vendor’s privacy practices or respond when personal data is exposed?
The Privacy Academy helps you work through these questions with a structured approach. You’ll practice handling situations schools encounter and develop processes you can apply in your own environment.
Strengthen the practices that protect your community.
Throughout the Academy, you’ll learn how to:
-
Understand your data: Document how personal information is collected, used and managed across your school.
-
Put retention into practice: Identify what stands in the way of consistent records retention and deletion.
-
Handle information requests: Develop a structured approach to searching, reviewing and sharing information.
-
Respond to privacy incidents: Practice containment, risk assessment, escalation and communication.
-
Evaluate vendor risk: Review evidence, identify concerns and document decisions.
-
Assess new projects: Identify privacy risks before introducing new systems or activities.
-
Use images responsibly: Consider privacy, student safety and context when capturing and sharing visual content.
Start with a roadmap built for your school.
Your school’s priorities will depend on what you already have in place and where you need to make progress.
Before the Academy begins, you’ll complete a short questionnaire about your current privacy arrangements, experience and priorities. Following the live induction, you’ll meet with a 9ine consultant for a dedicated 60-minute Privacy Roadmap session.
Together, you’ll identify:
-
What is already working
-
Where further development is needed
-
Which risks and priorities need attention first
-
How to sequence the work ahead
-
Who needs to be involved
Your personalized roadmap will guide your immediate next steps, typically over the next 12 months, while establishing direction for the years ahead.
Designed for the people responsible for privacy.
Privacy responsibilities often sit within a broader role. The Academy is designed for professionals who lead or contribute to data protection through technology, operations, governance, compliance or a dedicated privacy position.
Whether you’re developing your knowledge or strengthening established practices, you can involve the colleagues most relevant to each topic.
One subscription covers your school, with no limit on participants.
Build your knowledge. Practice applying it.
The program combines two types of live sessions:
Foundation sessions
Build or refresh your understanding of information rights, incident management and vendor management.
Implementation workshops
Apply practical methods through school-based scenarios, exercises and peer discussion. Work through requests, incidents and assessments, and develop outputs you can adapt for your school.
Participants with relevant experience can attend implementation workshops directly. Foundation sessions are recommended where useful, but are not prerequisites.
