Frequently Asked Questions
ATLIS website and Member Compass
Getting Started & Logging In
Q: How do I log in to the ATLIS website for the first time?
A: Because ATLIS uses a unified association management platform, you will need to create a user account. Click "Login" in the upper right-hand corner and enter your school or work email address.
-
If your email is already in our system (e.g., you receive our newsletters), you will be prompted to set a password.
-
If your email is not in our system, you will be prompted to create a new account. Once logged in, your account will automatically connect you to your school's membership benefits.
Q: I’m moving to a different independent school. Should I create a new account?
A: Please do not create a new account! Your TLIS certification, event history, and professional development credits travel with you. Simply log into your existing Member Compass and update your primary email address. Then, contact the ATLIS team at membership@theatlis.org so we can disconnect your profile from your former school and link you to your new school's roster.
Navigating Your Member Dashboard
Q: What is the "Member Compass"?
A: The Member Compass is your personalized self-service dashboard on the ATLIS website. Once logged in, simply click your name in the top-right corner to access it. Within your Member Compass, you can:
-
Update your contact information, title, and profile photo.
-
View and pay open school or affiliate invoices (if you have management access).
-
View your upcoming and past event registrations (like the ATLIS Leadership Institute or annual conference).
-
Access member-exclusive resources such as the ATLIS Compensation Benchmark Report or Cybersecurity Recommendations.
Managing Your School’s Membership
Q: How does whole-school membership work, and how do I add my team?
A: ATLIS School Memberships belong to the organization, meaning you can add an unlimited number of staff and faculty to access personalized ATLIS accounts and benefits. We encourage entire Technology Departments, CFOs, Heads of School, and tech-forward teachers to be on your roster!
Q: How do I add or remove staff from our school's roster?
A: If you are the designated Primary Contact or have "Management Access" for your school:
-
Log in and navigate to your Member Compass.
-
Click on the Company (or School) tab on the left-hand menu.
-
Click on the People tab to view your current roster.
-
From here, you can click "Add Person" to send an email invitation to a new staff member, or remove individuals who have left the school. (Note: Removing someone simply detaches them from your school's billing/benefits; it does not delete their individual ATLIS history).
Billing, Dues, and Renewals
Q: How are ATLIS School Membership dues calculated?
A: Membership dues are based solely on your K-12 enrollment numbers, calculated at $4.50 times the total student enrollment. If your school has more than 1,000 students, your dues cap at $4,500.
Q: How do I view or pay an open invoice for our membership dues or other open invoices?
A: All transactions are managed through your Member Compass. If you are the Billing Contact or Primary Contact for your school:
-
Navigate to your Member Compass and click the Pay Balance tab.
-
Here, you can view open invoices, print them for your business office, or pay them securely online via credit card.
-
Note: You can also choose to securely save your payment method for future event registrations or automatic membership renewals.
Events
Q: How do I register for an ATLIS event or webinar?
A: Make sure you are logged into your account before navigating to the Events calendar. By being logged in, the system will automatically recognize your membership status and apply member-only pricing (e.g., zero-cost webinar registrations or discounted TLIS exam fees). Once registered, the event will appear in the My Events tab of your Member Compass.
TLIS Certification
Q: Does my Member Compass track my Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for the TLIS Certification?
A: Yes! The TLIS certification requires re-certification every three years, which includes logging 30 CEUs. Any ATLIS webinars, workshops, or conferences you attend while logged into your account will automatically be tracked in the event history section of your Member Compass, making your re-certification process seamless.
