ATLIS Announces 2025 Incoming Directors
The Association of Technology Leaders in Independent Schools (ATLIS), the premier professional association for technology leaders in independent schools, is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to its board of directors. These accomplished leaders bring a wealth of experience and expertise to guide ATLIS in its mission to empower and support technology professionals in independent education.
Joining the ATLIS Board of Directors are:
- Dan McGee, M.A., M.Ed., TLIS, Chief Technology Officer at Laurel School in Shaker Heights, OH.
- Jennifer Zanoria, Director of Educational Technology at Windward School in Los Angeles, CA.
ATLIS is also pleased to announce the appointment of William (Bill) Stites, TLIS, Director of Technology at Montclair Kimberley Academy in Montclair, NJ, as a Director of the ATLIS Certification Council. In this crucial role, Bill will lead the ongoing development and advancement of the ATLIS Certification program, ensuring its continued relevance and value for technology leaders in independent schools.

About the incoming directors
Dan McGee, M.A., M.Ed., TLIS
McGee is the Chief Technology Officer at Laurel School, where he has led the technology and library teams since 2012. In this role, he oversees educational technology, information technology, and libraries, ensuring students are prepared for the complex world they will inherit. McGee is closely involved in the academic and operational life of Laurel, serving on the leadership team, the professional development committee, the curriculum committee, the audit and risk management committee of the board, and the AI committee. In addition, he teaches AP Computer Science.
With nearly two decades of experience in independent girls' schools, McGee has been a member of ATLIS since its inception. He is recognized as an active collaborator and contributor to the field of educational technology and independent schools, freely sharing his vision and strategy for change and innovation. His published work has appeared in Education IT Reporter, eSchoolNews, and Access Points: The Journal of the Association of Technology Leaders in Independent Schools. He has also been featured in Cleveland Magazine and Cleveland Jewish News.
McGee holds an M.Ed. in Instructional Technology from the University of Akron, an M.A. in German Studies from the University of Cincinnati, and an Honors B.A. in K-12 Education and German from the University of Mount Union. He also holds the Technology Leader in Independent Schools (TLIS) certification from ATLIS and the Ohio K-12 Computer Technology Facilitation Endorsement. His journey with technology began with his dad’s Radio Shack TRS80 computer.
Jennifer (Jenn) Zanoria
Zanoria is the director of educational technology and associate director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Windward School. She brings nearly two decades of educational experience guided by the philosophy that "The skills are forever, the tools are for today."
Since 2014, Zanoria has led key technology initiatives while consistently prioritizing student learning outcomes at Windward School. Her extensive background across public and charter schools informs her collaborative approach, focused on building supportive environments for all community members.
An ATLIS Early Career Aspiring Technology Director (ECATD, now called the ATLIS Leadership Institute) alum and mentor in the ATLIS Leadership Institute (ALI) program, Zanoria remains dedicated to growing alongside those she serves while balancing life in Torrance with her family. Outside of work, she enjoys activities away from a screen like cooking, crocheting and pickleball.
William (Bill) Stites, TLIS
Stites, the director of technology at Montclair Kimberley Academy in Montclair, NJ, started at the school in 1994 and has been involved in technology since day one. Starting at the primary school, he served as technology coordinator, third-grade teacher, and webmaster - building the school's first website. In 1999, he was named director of technology. During that time, he taught Web Design and Irish Studies.
A frequent contributor and volunteer with the ATLIS, he helped design the Technology Impact and Efficacy (TIE) assessment, served on the ATLIS 360 committee, co-hosted the ATLIS Information Systems User Group, and is a 2019 Pillar Award winner. Stites cohosts the podcast Talking Technology with ATLIS. Additionally, he is a senior collaborator with Educational Collaborators, focusing on 1:1 technology, infrastructure, information systems audits, and implementation support, and serves as an advisor on the NJAIS Technology Steering Committee. He recently helped co-author the Center for Institutional Research in Independent Schools (CIRIS) book, "Data Informed Decision Making - A Guide to Institutional Research in Independent Schools."
Stites was instrumental in the development of the Technology Leader in Independent Schools (TLIS) certification, serving alongside the first groups of volunteers who built the program through a job task analysis and item writing.
Board terms
The new board members will begin their terms on July 1, 2025. They will work alongside the existing board to shape the strategic direction of ATLIS, develop impactful programs and resources, and advocate for the critical role of technology leadership in independent education.
